JOB DESCRIPTION
TITLE: Associate Director
REPORTS TO: Executive Director
SCOPE: Responsible for the day-to-day oversight of the programs of the YWCA, including ensuring that programs respond to community needs. Develops measurements of efficiency and effectiveness of programs, and makes recommendation to the Executive Director and the Board for changes, additions and termination of programs. Responsible for building alliances with other service providers to assist with program development. Stands in for the Executive Director in her/his absence.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Oversees the day-to-day operations of the programs provided by the YWCA. With assistance of program staff, prepares work plans and budgets for programs, monitors the budget throughout the year, and prepares quarterly reports on program activities.
2. Facilitates a planning process that includes rigorous evaluation of current program. Develops recommendations for changes, additions and termination of programs based on adherence to the Mission and Imperative of the YWCA, Strategic Plan goals, the outcome of measurements of efficiency and effectiveness and response to external market data.
3. Recruits, recommends for hire, trains and supervises program staff. Conducts annual performance evaluations in a timely manner. Ensures effective interface between program staff and other YWCA employees including fully informing other staff on a timely basis regarding activities, resource needs, etc.
4. Works with the Executive Director on projects related to special events and public issues including, but not limited to: Week Without Violence, Public Policy Events, Youth Alliance and Strategic Plan.
5. Manages agency activities during the absence of the Executive Director. Works in partnership with the Executive Director to provide knowledgeable, effective backup for the Executive Director. Serves as a member of the management team; coordinates team meetings in the Executive Director's absence.
6. Performs other duties as required.
QUALIFICATIONS:
· Bachelor's degree in a related field.
· Demonstrated success in a similar position for at least three (3) years.
· Skills and experience in supervising and evaluating paid staff and
volunteers.
· Demonstrated experience in designing, planning, delivering and evaluating
programs.
· Budget management experience.
· Appreciation of and experience in working with diverse populations.
· Demonstrated communication and facilitation skills.
· Commitment to YWCA goals of elimination of racism and the empowerment of
women.
