Troop Program Support Manager

COUNCIL OVERVIEW: Richly diverse and growing Girl Scout Council serving 18,000 inner city, urban and suburban girls and young women in Santa Clara County. Forty-seven full-time, 20-150 seasonal staff and 6000 volunteers provide programs that empower girls and young women to make life-enhancing decisions, develop self esteem, and be active, contributing members of our community.

BASIC FUNCTION: Partner with volunteers and staff to ensure quality programs are offered in troops and communities in Santa Clara County.

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES:

1.       Provide consulting services to troop leaders and administrative volunteers requesting assistance with program resources.

2.       Manage Council sponsored troop programs and patch programs. Support the enrichment of troop program by coordinating Pen Pals, religious recognition, and travel troop processes. Design and implement outcomes evaluation tools to measure the effectiveness of these programs.

3.       Facilitate the scheduling and delivery of Council sponsored programs to troops or groups.

4.       Promote Council programs to troops through print materials and presentations.

5.       Provide supervision, direction and training to administrative volunteers developing/implementing day camps.

6.       Participate in developing, implementing, and monitoring yearly plans and budgets; provide written and oral progress reports.

QUALIFICATIONS:

·         Bachelor's Degree or equivalent experience.

·         Excellent written and verbal communications skills; excellent facilitation and presentation skills.

·         Strong planning, organization, and follow-through skills; high attention to detail.

·         Strong interpersonal skills; ability to cultivate, motivate and maintain effective working relationships with staff and volunteers from diverse backgrounds and all levels of the organization.

·         Experience with Microsoft Office’s applications; ability to collect, analyze and interpret data.

·         Ability to use a computer keyboard and communicate effectively by phone and email daily.

·         Ability to handle several projects simultaneously, prioritize work and handle last minute demands appropriately.

·         Ability to handle confidential materials and information in an appropriate manner.

·         Commitment to the empowerment of girls and women.

·         Valid CA drivers license and reliable transportation; willingness to work flexible hours, evenings and weekends.

·         Ability to lift/load/move boxes weighing 20-30 lbs., using hand truck, and to move items weighing 1-5 lbs. from floor level, desk level and shelf levels of 6-7 feet.

·         Knowledge of community resources/contacts/services and adult or child education experience helpful.

·         Bilingual a plus (Spanish/Vietnamese)

HOURS:                                Full-time; some evenings, occasional weekends; flexible schedule.

HIRING RANGE:                $34-$39K  plus benefits (including medical/dental/vision insurance, health club membership, 9 holidays plus 1 floating holiday and winter holiday break, 16 PTO days, 401K and Girl Scout retirement plans, flexible spending plan)
