COUNCIL OVERVIEW: Richly diverse and growing Girl Scout Council serving 18,000 inner city, urban and suburban girls and young women in Santa Clara County. Forty-seven full-time, 20-150 seasonal staff and 6000 volunteers provide programs that empower girls and young women to make life-enhancing decisions, develop self esteem, and be active, contributing members of our community.

BASIC FUNCTION: Oversee the development, implementation and evaluation of short and long-term membership plans and strategies, focusing on membership development; volunteer recruitment, management and support; and community cultivation.

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES:

1.       Hire and supervise membership staff to make Girl Scouts an option for all girls in Santa Clara County.

2.       Oversee the development and implementation of strategic plans and service delivery models to achieve organizational membership goals; provide written and oral progress reports.

3.       Ensure that the racial, ethnic and socio-economic diversity of the community is reflected in the membership.

4.       Develop and manage/monitor the membership budget.

5.       Coordinate the training, coaching and support of administrative volunteers.

6.       Cultivate and maintain strategic relationships with local community organizations.

7.       Participate in cross-functional staff teams as required including the management team.

QUALIFICATIONS:

·         Bachelor's Degree or equivalent experience.

·         Five years experience supervising employees and volunteers and leading high performance teams.

·         Excellent written and verbal communications skills; excellent facilitation and presentation skills.

·         Strong planning, budget management, organization, and follow-through skills.

·         Strong interpersonal skills; ability to cultivate, motivate and maintain effective working relationships with staff and volunteers from diverse backgrounds and all levels of the organization.

·         Experience with Microsoft Office’s applications.

·         Ability to collect, analyze and interpret data.

·         Ability to use a computer keyboard and communicate effectively by phone and email daily.

·         Ability to handle several projects simultaneously, prioritize work and handle last minute demands appropriately.

·         Ability to handle confidential materials and information in an appropriate manner.

·         Commitment to the empowerment of girls and women.

·         Valid California drivers license and reliable transportation; willingness to work flexible hours, evenings and weekends.

·         Ability to lift/load/move boxes weighing 20-30 lbs., using hand truck, and to move items weighing 1-5 lbs. from floor level, desk level and shelf levels of 6-7 feet.

·         Knowledge of community resources/contacts/services.

HOURS:                                Full-time; occasional evenings and weekends; flexible schedule.

HIRING RANGE:                $47K – $53K (depending on experience) plus benefits (including medical/dental/vision insurance, health club membership, 9 holidays plus 1 floating holiday and winter holiday break, 16 PTO days, 401K and Girl Scout retirement plans, flexible spending plan)
