COUNCIL OVERVIEW: Richly diverse and growing Girl Scout Council serving 18,000 inner city, urban and suburban girls and young women in Santa Clara County. Forty-seven full-time, 20-150 seasonal staff and 6000 volunteers provide programs that empower girls and young women to make life-enhancing decisions, develop self esteem, and be active, contributing members of our community.

BASIC FUNCTION: Manage the council’s training and development program for adult volunteers, teens and girls ages 6-11.

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES:

1.       Develop, implement, and monitor yearly plans and budgets; provide written and oral progress reports.

2.       Recruit, appoint, and orient new volunteer trainers; supervise 40 – 60 volunteer trainers.

3.       Design and develop courses/workshops to ensure that the needs of adult volunteers, teens, younger girls and the organization are met using Girl Scout and community resources.

4.       Produce and contribute to annual and supplemental publications to market trainings.

5.       Deliver trainings/workshops for adults, teens, and younger girls as needed.

6.       Monitor compliance with the council’s training policy, and evaluate and report on training outcomes.

7.       Plan and deliver meetings for trainers to facilitate networking, skill development, and input to the training program.

8.       Publish the quarterly newsletter for trainers.

9.       Plan and execute training conferences for trainers in northern California and Nevada.

10.    Manage the council’s instructor-of-trainers program.

11.    Serve as a member of cross-functional staff teams responsible for providing services to volunteers and girls.

QUALIFICATIONS:

·         Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience.

·         Two years experience with instructional design, development and delivery, and training and development management.

·         Excellent oral and written communications skills; excellent facilitation and presentation skills.

·         Ability to lift/carry up to 30 lbs. to place boxes on shelves, which can be 5 feet high, on hand carts, and in cars.

·         Strong planning, organization, follow-through, and project and budget management skills.

·         Ability to use a computer keyboard and communicate effectively by phone and email daily.

·         Experience supervising volunteers; ability to collect, analyze and interpret data.

·         Strong interpersonal skills; ability to cultivate, motivate and maintain effective working relationships with staff and volunteers from diverse backgrounds and all levels of the organization.

·         Ability to handle several projects simultaneously, prioritize work and handle last minute demands appropriately.

·         Valid California drivers license and reliable transportation; willingness to work flexible hours, evenings and weekends.

·         Experience with Microsoft Office’s applications.

·         Commitment to the empowerment of girls and women.

HOURS:                                Full-time; some evenings, occasional weekends; flexible schedule.

HIRING RANGE:                $38K-$43K (depending on experience) plus benefits (including medical/dental/vision insurance, health club membership, 9 holidays plus 1 floating holiday and winter holiday break, 16 PTO days, 401K and Girl Scout retirement plans, flexible spending plan)
