ORGANIZATIONAL CONTEXT AND PURPOSE OF THE POSITION:
MACSA a non profit agency with a thirty-six year history of successfully delivering a wide range of social services to the lower income youth and elderly populations in Santa Clara County. MACSA operates several youth centers and one adult day health care facility. In the field of real estate development, MACSA has acted as the developer of two completed new construction senior housing projects (Jardines and Gira Sol) as well in the development and completion of a state of the art Youth Center in the Mayfair neighborhood of East San Jose. MACSA's current strategic plan calls for the development of more affordable housing. Accordingly, the MACSA Housing Department has undertaken in the Alum Rock area the development of fifty additional units of senior housing as well as a 70 unit for sale condiminium project for first time homebuyers. The MACSA Housing Department is also acquiring and developing additional facilities to house our growing youth service programs.
The Housing Development Assistant position is being created to assist the MACSA Housing Director by undertaking tasks within the housing development process of MACSA's planned and future community development projects.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. Assist Housing Director in identifying opportunities for land acquisition.

  2. Assist in the process of applying coordinating and acquiring permits.

  3. Participate in the creative process of preliminary project planning.

  4. Assist with tasks related to the acquisition of construction financing.

  5. Assist Housing Director in meetings and making public presentations.

  6. Assist and participate in selected areas of the construction Management.

  7. Assist and coordinate with the Housing Director the transition of completed projects to property management.

  8. Assist the Housing Director by packaging, deliver and picking up of documents and other support activities and duties as assigned.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  1. AA Degree from community college in a related field and/or a minimum of two years in an assistant capacity.

  2. Computer literate, Proficient in Excel, Type 40 wpm.

  3. Ability to be a good supportive team player as well as a back up person to busy supervisor.

  4. Ability to take direction, follow-through on assignments, work flexible hours, maintain good attendance, be punctual and maintain professional office behavior.

  5. General knowledge in the following areas: A. Record keeping responsibilities, handling of invoices, processing of documents, relationships with outside entities, and general reporting requirements.

  6. Demonstrated ability to communicate clearly, write clearly and concisely, possess ability to analyze data, added ability to read, write and speak fluent Spanish is preferred.

  7. Ability to learn quickly and work independently.
